IN STOCK & SHIPPING NOW.

The GamersNexus ‘Flux’ Project & Soldering mat was custom-designed as an easily cleaned, extremely heat resistant surface for projects ranging from component soldering and board repair to model building and bike or car part cleaning & maintenance. The Project & Soldering Mat is a 32” x 16” surface — on the larger side for a soldering mat — made of silicone. We strategically raised the border around the entirety of the mat to help prevent screws from rolling onto the floor, we’ve lined the project mat with driver sorters, holes to socket soldering tips, trays that can easily be marked for screw tracking, and spool holsters for organizing your materials. A hexagon pattern and GN logo centrally give striking flair while electrical diagrams give functional references. This mat is made of extremely durable materials for projects of all types. This is a counterpart to our ever-popular Modmat Series, including the anti-static Volt Modmat.

Specs:

  • 32” x 16” (813 x 406mm)

  • 7mm thick to 12mm thick (depending on which part)

  • Insulative silicone material

  • Extreme heat resistance, e.g. against soldering irons

  • Easy to clean with a rag and water

  • 3-Year Warranty

Ready for Any Project

Component Repair Mat

The Project & Solder Mat is big enough to accommodate helping hands for soldering, most components under repair, and various accessories like magnifying glasses, ventilating fans, and solder spools.

Hobbyist Projects

Not every project has to be electronic. We’ve found the Project Mats are also great for model building, crafts involving glues or adhesives, and anything else where you might want a grippy, cleanable, insulative surface.

Laptop Repair Mat

Going with a larger size than the average soldering mat also means ours can accommodate even larger laptops, useful for screw tracking and tool sorting if you need to do board repair.

Easy to Clean

Cleaning the Project & Solder Mat is easy. Even when getting blackened from a soldering iron and its tinning materials, you can clean the surface with a simple rag or shop towel and a cleaning fluid. For deeper cleans, such as for removing flux, adhesive, marker, and solder residue, we’d recommend warm running water and a soft rag with some soap. Some light scrubbing and it’ll be ready to go for the next project.

Project & Solder Mat vs. Modmat Differences

Many of you are familiar with our long-standing and highly successful Modmat series of products, including the Large ‘Volt’ Modmat and Medium. Both products exist to serve different types of products. Some differences are below:

Modmat

  • Anti-Static Conductive: Modmats are safe for use with components that are sensitive to electrostatic discharge (ESD). The surface is a rubberized and grooved material. Modmats include anti-static wrist straps and common ground points for grounding the user. We recommend Modmats or separate technician grounds for highly ESD-sensitive applications.

  • Moderate Heat Resistance: Modmats can withstand moderate heat, like that of temporary soldering iron contact or of prolonged moderate heat gun exposure (such as for tube bending). Modmats are not suitable for extreme and prolonged heat exposure.

  • Reference Materials: Modmats are built primarily for PC DIY and contain substantial reference materials for PC building projects, such as wiring diagrams, GPU screw trackers, protractors, to-scale RAM comparisons, and other specialized source material.

  • Size: Modmats come in Large (4’ x 2’, or 1220 x 610mm) and Medium (32” x 16”, or 813 x 406mm) sizes.

Project Mat

  • Insulative: These are built first-and-foremost for their heat resistance, and so they are considered to be insulative surfaces. The surface is a smooth silicone material. For highly ESD-sensitive work, consider independent grounding for the technician or our Modmat (read the left column) and watch our educational video about Insulative, Dissipative, and Conductive surfaces here.

  • Extreme Heat Resistance: Project & Soldering Mats can withstand the extreme heat of a soldering iron. As such, they can naturally withstand prolonged and extreme heat gun exposure, prolonged soldering iron exposure, and hot materials like melted solder.

  • Reference Materials: Project & Soldering Mats are built more for the project itself. They have some reference diagrams for common electrical gates and diodes; however, most of the space is dedicated to being a clear surface for work and tool storage.

  • Size: Project & Soldering Mats come in only one size and are 32” x 16” (813 x 406mm).
